Posted: 13th Jan
The Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning (DELWP) has partnered with Bendigo TAFE and Kangan Institute to provide five paid Forest and Fire Operations Officer Traineeships - commencing 1st April 2020.
This traineeship is specifically aimed at disadvantaged youth, aged 18-24, provided in a range of regional Victorian locations.
The Forest and Fire Operations Officer Traineeship with DELWP has been designed to provide traineeship opportunities to disadvantaged youth from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Or those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. It provides the trainee with the ability to work and earn money while studying to achieve a nationally recognised qualification on completion of training.
Further strengthening the benefits of this opportunity are the extensive supplementary support services that will complement the traineeship.
These include:
• Extensive English language development throughout the delivery of the qualification
• Social and emotional support to maximise time at placement work-centres
• Delivery of work-centre pre-placement cultural induction programs for both DELWP staff and participants
• Post-traineeship transition training, such as application writing and interview techniques to increase job readiness
